Kids of all ages love magic, and they really love learning and performing it! Learning and performing magic improves digital dexterity, coordination, visual perception, spatial relationships, critical thinking, creativity, public speaking skills, self-confidence, and imagination. This class will focus on magic you can make as well as commercially available magic. Your instructor Davis Brizius (aka Firefighter Dave) is a 4th generation magician and teaches fire safety in local school for the past 40 years.
Acting for Stage & Screen
Instructor : David Burkman
Class Description: Learn to perform with confidence in this unique, versatile acting class. Explore the key differences between theater and film/TV acting—from bold, expansive movement and projection for live audiences to subtle, naturalistic moments captured in close-up for the camera. Through scene work, improvisation, and on-camera practice, participants grow as performers while having fun. Perfect for those who love theater, are curious about acting in movies/TV, or want to do both. No prior experience required.
Taught by film director and acting teacher David Burkman, a USC Film School grad (and Wickliffe Dad), whose films have been on IFC, Hulu, Prime Video, and Netflix.

Brush Crazy:
Instructor: Lisa Lofland
Unleash creativity and expression through a variety of fun and engaging art forms. This hands-on class encourages imagination and artistic development while working with different mediums, including molding clay to create unique sculptures, painting ceramics, and decorating clay creations with vibrant glaze paints. Explore the world of painting on wood and canvas, experimenting with different styles and techniques. To add an extra splash of color, students learn the art of tie-dying shirts, creating their own wearable works of art. Throughout the course, children develop their artistic skills, gain confidence in their abilities, and have a blast bringing their ideas to life!
Arduino LEGO® Robotics
Instructor: Robot Academy
Does your child love Robot Wars and LEGOs? Join our action-packed LEGO Robot Building and Coding after-school class, designed especially for Grades K-2 and 3-5! In this program, kids will dive into building and coding their own LEGO robots using Scratch, with fun challenges like BattleBot, Jousting, and Maze, where they’ll put their creations to the test. No experience is necessary; our expert instructors guide young engineers every step of the way, helping them build the robot to using their LEGO robots to feed the pet, clean the room, and clear the table. They’re well on their way to becoming helpful robotics experts at home! For even more fun at home, there’s an option to purchase a take-home robot, allowing students to continue learning and customizing their robots. Sign up today to unleash your child’s creativity and watch them beam with pride as they bring their very own robot creations to life!
Optional Take Home Robot
Many parents tell us that purchasing a Take-Home Robot was one of the best parts of the class for their child. While completely optional, it’s very popular because it allows your child to continue building, coding, and creating long after class ends.
During Week 2, every student will build from a brand-new robot kit. For just $125, your child can keep the exact robot they built—turning the after-school experience into a hands-on STEM learning opportunity that continues at home.
You can purchase the robot during registration (choose “Registration with Take-Home Robot”) or anytime during the session using the link provided below. Just include your child’s name and class.
Parents frequently tell us that their children are even more engaged in class when they know the robot will be theirs to keep. They take extra pride in building it, love showing it off at home, and enjoy running all the programs we create during class using the included in the information packet sent home with the robot. The robot also works with the remote so students can build with LEGO® and quickly use the robot.
Students who own the robot can also bring it to our Dublin summer camps, where they build and program an exciting expansion set—adding even more engineering challenges and fun.
Thursday:
Jewelry Design: Wearable Art
Instructors: Anna Warnecke, Kendall Brock, Priscila Teixeira
A calm-fun hour class, where students explore the fundamentals of jewelry design—including color stories, balance, proportion, pattern, and texture.
As they create their own rings, earrings, bracelets, necklaces, and anklets, young makers will also discover "bite-size" fashion jewelry history. Each student builds a unique mini-collection for personal wear or gift-giving. All students are invited (not mandatory) to walk the runway wearing their original jewelry creations at our Columbus Fashion Academy Spring Fashion Show on May 17th at CCAD! (They can wear whatever clothes they love and pair them with their newly designed jewelry)
Skills Learned: Fine motor skills, design theory, historical context, and creative confidence.
Projects: A complete collection of custom wearable art.
Materials: All jewelry-making tools and supplies are included. Young designers work with an elevated mix of materials—from genuine stone nuggets, wire, and crystals to colorful glass and accent beads—offering a professional feel for growing creators.
